sounds amazing! unfortunately we don’t have too much flexibility in terms of which classes we choose - we have to make sure we meet all the prerequisites for our 4th year classes for when we return home. we should grab a coffee or lunch at some point, i’d love to hear all the about the course before starting - or just generally chat to another girl thats interested in it! as there really aren’t many..

ctrl-q said: hey! you're going to be studying aerospace at uiuc, right? cause that's totally what I study there! do you know what classes you're taking yet?

I am yes! I have international orientation tomorrow, after which I can register for classes so haven’t sorted them out yet! I’ll be going ito junior year - what about you?

Hey! Well I may not be the best person to ask unfortunately because I’m not actually a full-time student a UIUC, I’m just taking part in an exchange programme where I complete my third year of college at UIUC. I’m studying mainly in Scotland so I assume it’s a different process for you guys to get accepted than it is for us since I’ll only be going for the year. Sorry!

We should all explore the campus together and get lunch on Green Street :) The campus will probably be quieter for a few days before everyone else moves in so it'll be nice to explore without the crowd there. I can't believe that there are only 12 days left till we move in :)

yeah we definitely should! I can’t wait to just arrive on Sunday and start exploring, it’s so soon now. are you starting to get all packed up now? I’m in Arizona visiting family atm so it’ll be nice to finally move into halls so I can stop living out of a suitcase!

First sporting experience in the USA..

Arizona diamondbacks vs New York mets.

Sadly, dbacks lost - but my first American baseball game lived up to all of its stereotypes with not only a soldier returning to surprise his mum mid-match, and a ‘kiss cam’ proposal but a $20,000 pool at the side of the pitch that you could rent to watch the game from. Words fail me.

What will the nba games bring..

Exchange year

So my first full day in Arizona consisted of being asked repeatedly where I learnt to speak such good English as clearly my first language was ‘Scottish’ , driving over (and sadly killing) a snake, and seeing a squirrel (?!?) in the desert.

Got to love America.

Around 8 or 9 people choose to go there each year, so there are always people from my town at UIUC haha.

ah sweet, that’s pretty cool - must be a good a school if so many go from nearby? My bf is doing his exchange at San Diego state so should be cool to check out their too! I’ve just spoken to a bunch of girls also doing international exchange on fb that will also be moving into barton on the 18th. Do you know what floor your on, I’m 408 and two of the other girls are 422, 403 :)

I can't wait to spend those few extra days exploring campus some more. I've been there 5 or 6 times already, but I always love walking around it :) its a beautiful campus

my thoughts exactly! yeah i think most people move in on the 22nd/23rd? So at least we wont be entirely alone in halls until then :) your so lucky you’ve had a chance to visit the campus though, I just keep looking at photos of it constantly, and it looks so gorgeous and probably even more so when you are there! Are any of your friends/people you know going to uiuc too?
